Life is a Project (LIAP) was conceived as an idea for helping people to build simple, manageable plans to achieve their Life goals. It was based on the premise that Project Management methods should be just as useful for managing Life Projects and Change as they are for business endeavours. More specifically, the LIAP concept was envisioned as a unique method of helping individuals, such as migrants and refugees, to plan their way through challenging intercultural transitions.
The LIAP model utilises a unique blend of Project Management and Language Teaching thinking and tools. It sits on the foundational principles of Positive Thinking, Active (Project-Based) Learning and Self-Determination. First piloted in London, in 2016, the concept received a global award (Project Management Institute Education Foundation), and has since been incorporated into community-building intercultural programs in Australia.
The main elements of the standard 6-week LIAP Program include weekly workshops (basic Project Management) for groups of 5-8, development of a personal Life Project Plan, and participation in planning a local Community Project of your choice. Workshop guidelines are provided in the format of Cambridge CELTA-style lesson plans. The LIAP Program has been built by certified global Project Managers and English Language teachers.
